Hank Aaron: Baseball Slugger, Race Baiter

Honoring the man for his feat 40 years ago and what does he do?

He turns it into a nasty racially divisive speech.

ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta/AP) — Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron compared Republicans that oppose President Barack Obama to the Ku Klux Klan.
Here's a man who was alive back when the Democrats were overtly keeping African-Americans from realizing their potential through their policies and covertly wearing hoods at night. And yet, he now must find a way to make race a relevant feature of a sporting event that he accomplished, without help, so many years ago.

Let's read on:

“Sure, this country has a black president, but when you look at a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he’s treated,” Aaron told USA Today Sports.

Aaron continued: “The bigger difference is that back then they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts.”

Aaron stated that there is still room for improvement for race relations in the U.S.
“We have moved in the right direction, and there have been improvements, but we still have a long ways to go in the country,” Aaron told USA Today Sports.

Mr. Aaron doesn't understand that there will never be any improvement until statements like his are eliminated from public utterance. No healing can take place until this kind of offensive statement is not issued.

The best way for any statist to stay in power is to divide the people along demographic lines and race is as good of a demographic as any other.

Let's read a little more:

Aaron goes on to describe the racist letters he has kept for decades as he was chasing Babe Ruth’s home run record.

“To remind myself that we are not that far removed from when I was chasing the record,” Aaron explained to USA Today Sports.

There, now you have it. This is why we will never heal.

We have people who feel it is necessary to keep picking a scab that desperately wants to heal. Hank Aaron is one of those people, who wants an open sore.

In this instance, he needs a reminder about those days when he was sent letters by bigots. He cannot allow himself to forgive those jerks, many of whom are likely dead now. So in a day and age where we have a Black President, there seems to be no better way to keep race hustling alive than to demonize those, who merely disagree with a man's policies and overall job performance.

Well done.
